There’s a particular skill to getting the most out of a visit to this venerable, authentic, and well-used Fell’s Point bar, where the crowd is a mix of lifers and tourists. First, get a couple of seats at the big bar (or one of the tables next to the small windows). Next, order from the ample, well-planned beer list. Third, order a pound of mussels or steamed shrimp. As you eat and drink, look around the room at the great wooden details on the bar and the pressed tin ceiling.

Repeat until pleasantly full. Sure, there’s a nice dining room and an enticing outdoor (and out back) dining patio, but the real fun is in the front bar (or at the outdoor tables).
