Punta Eugenia
Follow the graded dirt road north from Tortugas for 26.5 kilometers to reach the small, picturesque village of Punta Eugenia. This is the place to plan a boat trip to Islas Natividad, Cedros, and San Benito.
The scenic cliffs along Chest Camp are perfect for solitary camping. Enjoy great views of Islas Cedros and Natividad in the distance as well as Chester Rock, with the remains of a misguided shrimp boat. A local from Eugenia has constructed some palm-fringed shelters on one of the cliffs for a future tourist camp, and plans were to include a restaurant/café as well.
The drive out to Punta Eugenia and beyond is worth the extra time; the surroundings become increasingly more pristine as you get farther from Tortugas.
