US$50–100

A few blocks from the town center, Casa Pablito Bed and Breakfast Hotel (Hidalgo and Ortega, tel. 624/143-1971, toll-free U.S. tel. 866/444-1139, www.casapablitoloscabos.com, US$90) was originally built to house employees of the Club Cascadas resort. A few years back, the building was converted into a traditional Mexican hacienda-style inn with 14 suites set around a pool and palapa-shaded breakfast area. Rooms have either one queen or two twin beds, plus kitchenettes, air-conditioning, and cable TV. This location will work for you if you don’t mind a fairly long walk to most of the shops and restaurants downtown.

US$100–150

Another place that’s removed from most of the action downtown is The Bungalows Breakfast Inn (Dorado and Lienzo Charro, tel. 624/143-5035, toll-free U.S. tel. 888/424-2226, www.cabobungalows.com, US$95–175), a good option for small groups or any travelers who like to stay off the beaten path. Its eight newly painted suites have separate sleeping areas, air-conditioning, kitchenettes, and TVs. A honeymoon suite has its own terrace with city views. Six two-bedroom bungalows can accommodate 4–6 guests each. There’s no smoking, inside or out. The small but nicely designed grounds hold a swimming pool, hot tub, and BBQ. Full breakfast is a treat to start the day. Guests here unanimously praise owner Eric for his personal service and attention to detail.

US$150–250

About one and a half kilometers east of Cabo San Lucas and 800 meters above Mexico 1, Casa Contenta (tel. 624/143-6038, www.cabocasacontenta.com, US$160–195/day or US$1,050–1,300/week) has five air-conditioned rooms with private baths in a three-story home with a swimming pool and wireless Internet throughout. Take a yoga class, book a spa treatment, or simply enjoy the view of Land’s End on the rooftop terrace. There’s a three-night minimum.
