Only 30 kilometers south of Perito Moreno, just off the newly paved highway, Estancia Telken is a working ranch that doubles as a restful guesthouse and campground.

Dating from 1915, the main house comprises two rooms with private baths and one with a shared bath; two separate new rooms can sleep up to five people, and an apartment can hold another four or five. The grassy campground has a covered quincho with a full kitchen and a full bath with hot showers.

The new absentee ownership at Telken (tel. 02963/43-2079, tel. 0297/447-1780 in Comodoro Rivadavia, telkenpatagonia [at] yahoo [dot] com [dot] ar) has stated its intention to continue the previous owners’ hospitality, but it’s hard to imagine things won’t change under hired help.

Open October–end of April, Telken offers bed-and-breakfast for US$70 s, US$80 d, with shared bath; US$100 s, US$110 d, with private bath. Lunch costs US$20, and dinner is US$40 with drinks. Camping costs US$6 per tent or vehicle, plus US$6 pp.
