Museo Histórico Provincial
With its corner pillar, flanked by separate entrances on perpendicular streets and a balcony that looks onto both, the residence of colonial governor (later viceroy) Rafael Núñez adds a touch of architectural distinction. Ecclesiastical artwork, musical instruments, gaucho gear, and elaborate furniture fill its 26 rooms and five courtyards, but the lack of interpretation means that the building is the real star here.
The Museo Histórico Provincial Marqués de Sobremonte (Rosario de Santa Fe 218, tel. 0351/433-1661, US$0.50) is open 8:30 a.m.–2 p.m. weekdays only.
