Telus World of Science
This multipurpose complex in Coronation Park (11211 142nd St., 780/452-9100, daily 10 a.m.–5 p.m., until 9 p.m. in summer, adult $14, senior $12, child $9.50) is one of Edmonton’s major attractions and most recognizable landmarks.
Displays are spread over three levels and six galleries, including a look into the future of communications, the chance to solve a crime along Mystery Avenue, a ham radio station hooked up to similar stations around the world, a weather display that includes an audiovisual of the deadly tornado that hit Edmonton in the summer of 1987, a tribute to Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), a theater where laser light shows are presented daily noon–7 p.m., a chance to learn about the environment in Green’s House, a learning room especially for younger kids, and an interactive gallery where you are encouraged to try sports such as wheelchair racing.
Also in the building, an IMAX Theatre presents spectacular video productions—seemingly always of an interesting nature—adult $14, senior $12, child $9.50 for the theater only; $22.50, $19, and $15.25, respectively, for admission to one IMAX feature and the other displays.
