Denali View Raft Adventures (907/733-2778 or 877/533-2778, www.denaliviewraft.com) has three-hour Susitna River trips ($105 adults, $65 children), two-hour Talkeetna River floats ($69 adults, $49 children), and a unique 4.5-hour trip that starts with a train ride upriver followed by a float and lunch on the Susitna River ($169 adults, $110 children).

Talkeetna River Guides (907/733-2677 or 800/353-2677, www.talkeetnariverguides.com) offers two-hour Talkeetna River floats for $79, and four-hour Chulitna River trips for $129. They primarily book customers from the large hotels.

Mahay’s Riverboat Service (907/733-2223 or 800/736-2210, www.mahaysriverboat.com, $65 adults, $33 children) has a popular two-hour jet-boat tour up the Susitna River. Longer trips are also offered, including a five-hour run into Devil’s Canyon ($155 adults, $78 children).

The fishing in Talkeetna is excellent all summer long; rainbow trout, grayling, Dolly Varden, and all five species of Pacific salmon are there for the catching. Local riverboat services can supply you with a fishing guide or drop you off along the river for the day or overnight. The visitors center has rack cards from most local guides.
