Located 17 miles north of Ketchikan, Salmon Falls Resort (907/225-2752 or 800/247-9059, www.salmonfallsresort.com, mid-May–mid-Sept.) has modern rooms and a dramatic shore-side setting. Three-night guided fishing packages are $4,300 for two people.
Yes Bay Lodge (907/225-7906 or 800/999-0784, www.yesbay.com) is a remote fishing lodge near Lake McDonald on the Cleveland Peninsula north of Ketchikan. The setting is wonderful, and the fishing is great, most notably in a famous steelhead stream adjacent to the property. Rates start at $6,400 d for a four-night all-inclusive package.
Also check out Naha Bay Outdoor Adventures (907/247-4453, www.nahabayoutdooradventures.com), a 20-minute boat ride from Knudson Cove Marina. Naha has good fishing, hiking, sea kayaking, and more, starting at $600 d for three nights.
