Get to Centennial Park City Campground (907/262-5299, www.ci.soldotna.ak.us, $15, no reservations) by crossing the bridge on the Sterling, taking a right at the light onto Kalifornsky Beach Road, then another immediate right into the campground. This is a big city park with nice wooded sites (some right on the river), picnic tables, fire pits, water, boardwalks, fishing walkways, and a boat-launching ramp.
Local RV parks include River Terrace RV Park (907/262-5593) and Klondike RV Park & Cabins (907/262-6035 or 800/980-6035, www.klondikecabins.com, RVs $39), the latter on Funny River Road close to the Kenai River. Free RV parking in the Fred Meyer parking lot (2-night limit).
