Seaview Café (907/782-3300, www.seaviewcafealaska.com, mid-May–mid-Sept.) has rustic cabins ($60 d) with outhouses, tent sites ($6), and RV hookups ($18) along the creek, which is a popular spot to catch pink salmon (humpies) or to pan for gold. The century-old café is open daily for lunch and dinner, but you’re much better off heading to Tito’s Discovery Café (907/782-3274, daily 7 a.m.–9 p.m., $12–15), serving three meals a day. Dinners include blackened halibut, burgers, stir-fried veggies, and daily specials, along with homemade pies and soup.
Clustered around a small pond, Bowman’s Bear Creek Lodge (Mile 16, Hope Highway, 907/782-3141, www.bowmansbearcreeklodge.com, year-round, $150 d) has five log cabins with woodstoves and a shared bathhouse. The excellent café serves “rustic cuisine” lunches and dinners (daily 4–10 p.m. summer, Thurs.–Sun. 4–8:30 p.m. winter, $20–26), with outside dining on summer afternoons. They also operate Sweet Mo’s (daily noon–6 p.m. summer), a seasonal ice cream shop across from the museum.
Discovery Cabins (907/782-3730 or 800/365-7057, www.adventurealaskatours.com, May–Sept., $95 d) has five modern cabins on the edge of Bear Creek in Hope. The cabins share a bathhouse and an outdoor hot tub.
You’ll find a grocery, laundry, RV spaces, and motel rooms at Alaska Dacha (907/782-3223) along the road as you come into town.
