Tom Stienstra is the outdoors columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, which distributes his column weekly on the New York Times News Service. He has won more than 100 national and regional writing awards, and has twice been named National Outdoor Writer of the Year. His television show, The Great Outdoors, is broadcast weekly on CBS/UPN-San Francisco, and his weekly radio show is broadcast on KCBS-San Francisco. His books have sold more than one million copies.
Tom was inducted into California’s Outdoor Hall of Fame in 2003 “for inspiring thousands of Californians to take part in the great outdoors and conservation, and having taken part in a paramount scope of adventures.” He takes part in all facets of the outdoors, and as a pilot and airplane owner, can cover great distances quickly in the pursuit of adventure.
