ABOUT THE AUTHOR ANDREW HEMPSTEAD
A native of Australia, Andrew Hempstead may be cheering for the Aussies when it comes to cricket and rugby, but he has developed a deep appreciation for New Zealand and its people during a dozen or more trips to the country. He has traveled to New Zealand on assignment for the last four editions of this book, and to write and photograph for other publications, but many trips have been purely for pleasure-to kayak through the Bay of Islands and to ski the Southern Alps. While researching this new edition, Andrew ventured from one end of the country to the other and everywhere in between, always traveling incognito-experiencing New Zealand the way his readers do. Andrew began writing in 1989, when, after leaving a career in advertising, he took off for Alaska, linking up with veteran travel writer Deke Castleman to help research and update the fourth edition of Moon Alaska-Yukon. Andrew has now worked on more than a dozen guidebooks for Moon, Odyssey, Frommer's, Dorling Kindersley, and Michelin. He also writes for a variety of magazines, provides online content for websites such as Expedia, operates In his spare time, Andrew enjoys golfing, hiking, fishing, and camping. He lives with his wife and family in Alberta, Canada. Other travel guides authored by Andrew Hempstead: |
