ABOUT THE AUTHOR SEAN McLACHLAN

For two years, Sean McLachlan lived in Hertford, a bedroom district of London. He spent much of that time in his favorite city researching medieval history and wandering the backstreets looking for historic pubs, used bookstores, and little-known architectural jewels. He thoroughly enjoyed researching Moon London despite being kicked out of a Guardian party for not being on the guest list and being told by a nun on the Tube that he looked like Conservative leader David Cameron.

An archaeologist by training, Sean is now a fulltime freelance writer and author. His books include Byzantium: An Illustrated History, Missouri: An Illustrated History, It Happened in Missouri; he is also the coauthor of the Insiders’ Guide to Phoenix. Though specializing in history and travel, Sean has written everything from military analyses to restaurant reviews and his articles have been published in numerous magazines and newspapers.

A lifelong love of travel, and a knack for finding excavations and freelance gigs all over the world, has taken Sean to more than 25 countries. He now divides his time between England, the U.S., and Spain. When not on the road he likes to hike, read obscure books, watch even more obscure movies, worry his wife with the increasing size of his library, and watch his son learn about the world. Visit him online at www.seanmclachlan.com and share your own London discoveries.
