ABOUT THE AUTHOR ROSEMARY JONES

ROSEMARY JONESRosemary Jones is a born and bred Bermudian, the daughter of British immigrants to the island. But growing up in the confines of the 21-square-mile British colony also gave her a lifelong addiction to travel.

She began freelance writing for newspapers, including Bermuda’s daily, The Royal Gazette, before working for several years in Toronto as a news and feature reporter for the Toronto Star, Toronto Sun, and Broadcast News Toronto. Jones has taken time out from newsrooms for globe-trotting sabbaticals: camping in Europe and the Americas; crewing through the Caribbean; backpacking through Costa Rica (where she lived on a Pacific beach for four months), and getting married in Argentina’s Patagonian wilderness.

Since 1999, Jones has been editorial director of Brimstone Media Ltd., a multimedia company she launched with her husband to produce and package books, magazines, museum exhibits, films, and other creative ventures. Jones has contributed to magazines, newspapers, and news services in North America and Europe, including Islands, In Style, Condé Nast Publications, The Daily Mail, Reuters, the Canadian Press, and the Associated Press, and is a correspondent for People magazine. She is also the author of Bermuda: Five Centuries, a coffee-table history of the island published in 2004.

As a native islander, Jones is acutely attuned to Bermuda’s idiosyncrasies, history, social nuances, newest attractions, and insider secrets. Jones’s research for Moon Handbooks gave her the perfect excuse to brush up on esoterica, like how to pour the perfect dark ‘n’ stormy, where to go ghost-hunting at Victorian mansions, and the best way to treat jellyfish stings. She can be contacted at rose@logic.bm.
