About the Author

Parke Puterbaugh and Alan Bisbort

Parke Puterbaugh is a travel and environmental writer and veteran music journalist for Rolling Stone, Parke has authored and contributed to numerous books and publications. He holds a bachelor's degree in English and Sociology and a masters in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Alan Bisbort is a writer, editor, and researcher who has worked for the Library of Congress, both on staff and as a freelance writer for 25 years. He has also contributed to numerous publications and has authored several books. Alan has a degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he met Parke. He is also a contributing columnist for the Advocate Newspapers, for which he has won two journalism awards, and is a prolific writer of letters to the editor.
