About the Author

Rosemary Jones

Born in Bermuda to British immigrants, Rosemary Jones grew up on the 21-square-mile British colony and still calls the island home. She began her writing career at Bermuda’s daily, The Royal Gazette, before working for several years in Toronto as a news and features reporter for the Toronto Star, Toronto Sun, and Broadcast News Toronto.

For the past decade, she has been editorial director of Brimstone Media Ltd., a Bermuda-based company she launched with her journalist husband to produce and package books, magazines, museum exhibits, films, and other creative ventures. She has contributed to magazines, newspapers, and news services in North America and Europe, including Islands, In Style, Condé Nast publications, and The Daily Mail, and is a correspondent for People magazine. She is also the author of Bermuda: Five Centuries, a coffee-table book on the history of the island that won the Bermuda Literary Award for Non-Fiction in 2008. Her children’s edition, Bermuda: Five Centuries for Young People, was published in 2009.

As a native islander, Jones is well-attuned to Bermuda’s idiosyncrasies, history, social nuances, and insider secrets. Her research for the second edition of Moon Bermuda gave her the perfect excuse to brush up on esoterica, like the meaning of “moongates,” what a cricket “googly” is, and how to find authentic Bermuda shorts. Jones lives in Paget with her husband and son, and their six cats. She can be contacted at rose [at] logic [dot] bm.
