National Parks in the Southwest

We’ve recently added content from Moon Grand Canyon to Moon.com. With the long Memorial Day weekend just around the corner, it’s a perfect time to start planning for a getaway to Grand Canyon National Park.

Hiking is king at Grand Canyon, and author Kathleen Bryant has reviewed the most popular hikes on the canyon’s South Rim, North Rim, and in the Inner Canyon, including important details about each hike—like distance, duration, elevation gain, and effort required—to help you better plan your time.

Whether you’re planning a family outing or a romantic weekend for two, Kathleen has worked up several suggested trip strategies to get you well on your way to creating the perfect vacation. more >>

Our Absolute Favorite Covers (For Now)

When I asked the office staff last Friday to name their favorite Moon guidebook cover, someone immediately retorted, "That's like asking a mom to name her favorite kid!" But that's exactly what we did—played temporary favorites among books with which we've lived and breathed, and to which we've become quite attached. The White Horse

I can't seem to stop talking about the White Horse pub, so hopefully writing this post will get it out of my system and give my poor coworkers a break from hearing me rave on and on about it to anyone who asks about my recent trip to Seattle.

Cancun Bound

My husband and I are headed to Cancun next week for a wedding, and I can hardly wait!

This will be my first trip to Mexico. Well… other than the quick three-hour jaunt I took to Juarez many years ago to buy a cold beer when attending a student journalism convention in El Paso. A bunch of us were under 21 at the time, and it just felt like the right thing to do after a long day of work. Like I said… many moons ago.

My father is from Mexico, and I’ve long wanted to explore this amazing country. I know Cancun will be more touristy than I want, but it’s a start. And hopefully it will lead to many more trips. My real dream is to really explore the state of Sinaloa, where my dad is from (he was born in Mazatlan, long before it was taken over by hotels). It’s also the home state of the mother of my dear friend, Jessica. Maybe we can go together someday. I’ll need her strong Spanish speaking skills. Sadly, mine are a little hit and miss. more >>
