Michigan: More than Motown

We’ve just finished putting content from our Moon Michigan guidebook, by Laura Martone, online yesterday. In addition to all the things you might expect to find in a guide to Michigan—like Detroit’s Motown Historical Museum, Ann Arbor’s Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum, The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Mackinac Island, and rich ethnic enclaves like Greektown and Hamtramck—Laura includes many unexpected gems, too, like the annual late-March Sugar & Shearing Festival and the annual Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Powwow held every August. more >>

Honduran Unrest: an Insider's Perspective, Part 2

My husband’s reports to me during the day on Sunday summarized the situation as “tense, but calm.” He stayed home, along with most people in the city. More, and bigger, protests yesterday, but by the time my husband went home from work in the evening, streets were deserted as citizens prepared for the curfew that has been imposed from 9pm to 6am. The streets were quiet and being cleaned up this morning as my husband headed back to the office, but everyone is bracing for more. more >>
