Moon Travel Guides is excited to be one of the guest hosts for this week’s Travelers’ Night In (aka #TNI) event on Twitter.

Started by the adventurous and fun travelers at ZipSetGo.com, #TNI is a 'tweet-up' held every Thursday from 3:30 to 5:00 PM EST where travel lovers follow regular/guest hosts for 10 travel related questions. These questions are tweeted by the hosts every ten minutes, and travel-minded participants respond with their most creative answers and tag their tweets with the #TNI hashtag. It’s a great way to chat with travel experts—and addicts—and learn about the latest ideas and trends in the travel world.

According to ZipSetGo.com, past #TNI events have averaged more than 5,000 tweets, reaching over 600,000 followers, and resulted in 12 million plus impressions. #TNI was recently a top 10 Twitter trending topic. more >>

Our staff will be collecting much-needed food items all month, and today we’re hosting an office-wide bake sale to help raise additional money for the food bank. The most needed items this year are rice, pasta, canned fruits and veggies, tuna, peanut butter and cereal. In 2009, the Alameda County Community Food Bank distributed 18.3 million pounds of food—including 8.7 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. more >>

Christmas ZooLights

Last week, I shared a selection of the country’s Christmas boat parades. But the Christmas light fun doesn’t end there, especially if you’re interested in seeing some Christmas lights that are a little wild.

Did you know that many zoos across the country get into the holiday spirit with elaborate Christmas light displays? Kids and grown-ups alike will enjoy over the creative zoo-themed decorations that present animated, illuminated images of familiar furry and scaly creatures.

Most zoos make light-viewing a big event and include other winter fun as well. Look for visits with Santa (everybody knows the big guy is an animal lover), carolers, ice-skating, yummy hot chocolate, and more. more >>
