Interesting, diverse, and intelligent list. Happy to see Portland - it deserves the honor. Few cities embrace improvement and quality of life issues as wholeheartedly and elegantly as its locals. Fortunately, this often includes respect for the fact that most people are trying to live responsibly on a budget. Another great site to check out is http://www.budgettravelblog.com/. Interestingly, they recently named Portland as one of the top 10 cities for visiting farmers markets. Hoping to visit again soon!

Isn’t the US a fabulous country, where all those holiday destinations are so accessible? There is nothing quite like the thrill of travel and the exploration of different societies and lifestyles. We work hard enough as it is, and all deserve our holidays!
