The Growing Trend of Moving Abroad
Each year, thousands of Americans make the life-changing decision to move abroad either to work or retire—and if the trend stays the same, 2010 will be no different. In fact, the number of Americans moving abroad may even increase.
According to the Association of Americans Resident Overseas, living abroad is a growing trend. A recent study released by the group shows that 5.26 million US citizens not working for the U.S. Government reside abroad, a 67 percent increase since 2008. The benefits of a life abroad are numerous, including statistics that show expats earn more, pay less tax, have a better work/life balance, have an improved quality of life, enjoy broader cultural opportunities, and receive better job prospects.
All this week on Moon.com, we will be featuring our popular Moon Living Abroad series with informative Author Q&A’s, living abroad poll questions, and highlights of some of our new Living Abroad Releases, including Moon Living Abroad in Panama, Moon Living Abroad in South Korea, Moon Living Abroad in Guatemala, Moon Living Abroad in China, and Moon Living Abroad in Spain.
If you are interested in learning more about this growing trend, or retiring abroad, take a look at this interesting U.S. News and World Report article.
