Fancy a bird's-eye view of Nicoya?

It's easily done with Flying Crocodile Ultralights.

If you're anywhere near Sámara, mid-way down the Pacific coast of the Nicoya Peninsula, it's worth the rugged 4WD journey to Playa Buena Vista, about five miles north of Sámara. Here licensed commercial pilot Guido Scheidt, from Germany, offers Ultralight trips from his Flying Crocodile Flying Center.

Choose from 20-minute to 3-day trips. You'll pay $110 for a 20-minute flight and $1,500 for a 10-hour flight that takes you as far afield as Liberia and Arenal volcano. Wow!

How cool!

Guido uses a variety of state-of-the-art, open-cockpit aircraft, which guarantee both a thrilling ride and sensational views. Guaranteed, it will be a thrill-filled trip you'll forever remember.

You can also stay here. Guido and his his artist wife rent out eight cabins, all individually styled with eclectic and whimsical touches. Some rooms are budget and almost barebones. Others verge on luxurious. One cabin is Moorish themed. And the 'Dali' suite is tastefully 21st-century modernist in inspiration. Perfect for bohemians!
