Ladies and Gentelmen, Start Your Paddles! 12th Annual La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge Set for March 6
La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge is one of the world's longest canoe races, and it is held in Belize in honor of Baron Bliss Day, a holiday in March that celebrates the country's biggest historical benefactor. The race pits paddler teams in various categories against each other as they make their way down 175 miles from the Hawksworth Bridge in San Ignacio to the Belcan bridge in downtown Belize City. If you're in country, you don't want to miss the cultural festivities on March 6 in San Ignacio (though most rooms will be booked, so plan ahead) -- or try to be in Belize City on March 9 as the racers pull into the city.

I am the Chairman and CEO of the La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge. I came across your blog while surfing the internet and found it very interesting. I am curious you said you have been in Belize for a while and accordingly have very high regards for the country. Have you taken part in the race? What was your interest on posting this on your blog? What is your motive? How can you help us and vice-versa? Thanks, Orlando
